Paul Frank Industries -- which has minted millions by slapping the simple cartoon drawing of a monkey's head onto hundreds of products -- has put itself on the block, sources tell The Post.
The company also has about 30 Paul Frank boutiques worldwide, including a location in Soho in lower Manhattan.
Paul Frank generates $8 million a year in royalties from licensees, who are estimated to sell more than $160 million annually in products ranging from bikes to furniture to plush toys to sunglasses.
One source said Paul Frank is looking for cash to assist a new leg of growth. The company's designs are sold at a wide range of retailers, from discount shops like Target to the super-chic Los Angeles boutique Fred Segal.
"They've done a great job of creating an iconic image and putting it on anything the public will allow -- wallets, plates, shirts, kids' clothing," says Marc Beckman of Designers Management Agency,

The Costa Mesa, Calif., company has hired Guggenheim Partners to assist in the sale process, in which it's asking for as much as $50 million, sources said.
